As CYCW , we often face challenges within ourselves and need lots of encouragement as these children are entrusted in our care. The importance of making your staff feel valued and important plays a major role as it filters through to the children when staff members are unhappy. But just as we encourage the children, the staff need encouragement too.
Start with yourself as the employee…….what makes you special? Why do the children love it when you on shift? What do you bring to the party in making these children feel loved and cared for.
Yes it is important to guide and reprimand them but also show them that you want them to succeed in life – because they already drew the short end of the stick without the necessary family support.
So challenge your self today as a CYCW working in the life space of a child – be the family he never had………. help address the needs of the child and see the difference.
